Santmyer Oil Co., Inc. began as a commissioned Gulf distributor in 1952 when Myron Santmyer opened a Gulf service station in Dalton, Ohio. In 1965, the company moved to a larger facility in Wooster, Ohio. 

Terry Santmyer bought the business in 1980, when it consisted of two tankwagon trucks and three employees. 

Today, Santmyer Oil Co. has bulk storage facilities in Wooster, Dalton, Ashland, and Mt. Vernon with 20 tankwagon trucks. Combined with its tankwagon and transport divisions, Santmyer wholesales approximately 80 million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel each year. 

In 2002, Santmyer Oil spun off its transport division to form SOCI Petroleum which is a freight company that specializes in the transportation of refined petroleum products. The company operates approximately 75 transports and delivers more than 500 million gallons of product a year.  The company's geographic diversification allows it to cover all of Ohio, western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, Kentucky, eastern Indiana, and southern Michigan.

Santmyer Oil spun off its cardlock division in 2004 to form Santmyer Commercial Fueling Network, which is comprised of 13 unattended cardlock fueling stations. SCFN offers compete fuel management to individual and commercial accounts.

In addition, Santmyer Oil Co. carries all major brands of oil lubricants and services home heating oil and commercial farm accounts. The company operates its own Marathon branded convenient store and supplies more than 50 Marathon branded and unbranded gas station dealers.

It's the foundation from our humble beginning and modest history upon which we operate today. Providing service the customer demands is still our way of doing business. While technology has certainly changed the way we operate our business, it hasn't changed the people who serve you.
